I started in the industry in 1991 as a runner/court filer. At the same time, I began an internship that would last two years to become a Florida Licensed Private Investigator. Within the year, I became a Certified Process Server in both Palm Beach and Miami Dade counties. In 1994 I was appointed as a Special Process Server by the Broward Sheriffs' Office.
After working for several companies as a process server and investigator, I started my own company called Gotcha Investigations, Inc. in 1997. A few years later, we became Gotcha Legal Services, Inc., where we now employ a full office staff and a large force of process servers. Managing this team, dealing with clients, and the satisfaction of providing great customer service along with unique strategies like "thinking outside the box" describe my everyday tasks.
I also stay active in organizations affecting our industry. I have been an active member of the National Association of Professional Process Servers (NAPPS) since 2002. I have been a member of the Florida Association of Professional Process Servers (FAPPS) for many years and began serving on the board of directors several years ago. I am currently serving my second term as the President of FAPPS. I served as chair of the Legislative Committee and Violence Against Process Servers Committee, where we began to assist, track, and document incidents of threats and violence against process servers. As chairman, I met with leaders of law enforcement agencies, state attorneys, and groups of process servers to discuss prevention and strategies for better law enforcement protocols responding to these incidents. As the FAPPS legislative chair, I authored proposed bills regarding service of process, met with leaders of legal organizations, and even traveled to Tallahassee to meet with members of the Florida Senate and House of Representatives to initiate changes in proposed legislation.
With over 30 years of experience in the field of process serving and legal support, I am the first to say, you must never stop learning. I have participated in countless training courses and continue to hold education for process servers as a top priority. As a board member of FAPPS, I have supported an education initiative that has spread across multiple Circuits of the State of Florida and has resulted in a more consistent and comprehensive education program.
Even after 30 plus years of process serving, and after serving hundreds of thousands of legal documents, I take on every service with the same amount of pride and integrity each day. To say I live and breathe this business is an understatement. I am very proud to be the founder, owner, and operator of Gotcha Legal Services, Inc.
